Missions of Love, inc (MOL) is a California 501c3 non-profit corporation. It is our purpose to help high risk juveniles avoid drugs, gangs and ultimately prison through the power of music. We take children that have shown an interest in music but have no financial capability to pursue their interest and provide instruments and teachers. Research has proven that good music can be instrumental in leading the children to a more positive way of life. This positive influence can lead to better school grades, and a higher direction, placing hope in the hearts of the hopeless and changing the outcome of their lives. Research at Northwestern University found that the longer older adults had played instruments as children, the faster their brains worked later in life. The effect remained even if they hadn’t played an instrument in many years. In fact, none of the study participants had played in almost four decades. “This study suggests the importance of music education for children today and for healthy aging decades from now, “said one researcher.” There is magic in music that develops brain health. It is for this reason that MOL has developed its Music Scholarship Program. A program that in time will reach into the school districts across California, making inroads that will help the children with options that will eliminate the need for drugs and gangs.
